So far this year I have read my fair share of gothic/horror, many of which have been by the horror author whose books I wanted to read more of: the one and only Darcy Coates.
I’ve been enjoying her Gravekeeper Series, which is sparse in profanity and not too gory, so I figured if her other books had this kind of content, I’d like to read them!
So far, I’ve read almost 10 of her books (4 this year) one of which I ended up DNF-ing because it was, unfortunately, too gory for my liking. All of the books of her I’ve read But I thought I’d share my thoughts on the others!

The Twisted Dead
The third installment in the Gravekeeper Series wasn’t my favorite compared to the other two, but it did unravel some of the mysteries surrounding Kira and her abilities, which I thought added to the plot effectively.

Small Horrors: A Collection of Fifty Creepy Stories
This collection of concise stories ranged from dystopian tales to macabre ghost stories—many of which were micro or flash-sized stories, which I always like to write!

Dead of Winter
The was one of her gorier tales, but the twists kept coming which kept me intrigued. Just when I thought I knew who the killer was, I was hoodwinked!

Ghost Camera
DNF’d
While it started out okay, I got distracted by the over-the-top-ness of the MC’s best friend and then the plot started to go downhill for me once demonic-like spirits were introduced.
So far, I think my favorite of Coates’s books this year has been the collection of short stories. According to her website, she has another collection of short stories that I might explore titled Quarter to Midnight.
